SPECIAL COMMITTEE REPORT ON ESTABLISHMENT OF A SAFETY PROGRAM . Mr. J, B. Jobe reported that safety was a subject that was considered in conjunction with a Manufacturing Committee, and that basically a manufacturing program could be broken down into the following parts: - 3- SPECIAL COMMITTEE REPORT ON ESTABLISHMENT OF A SAFETY PRCCAL'iM (coat'd. ) (a) Manufacturing Methods, It was the consensus of the group that the diversification of manufacturing methods within NIMA was great and that the feasibility of such a program would be impractical, therefore the subject should be tabled, (b) Safety. It was the consensus of the group that the reporting of statistics relating to accident prevention was adequately covered by the program that many of NIMA members parti cipate in with the National Mineral Wool Association, and therefore the subject should be tabled. (c) Health, The feeling of the group on th,is aspect was that the industry could benefit from such a program. This subject will be studied further and a recommendation will be made at the next NIMA Board Meeting. STATISTICAL REPORTING ' It was reported that two letters had been received from members suggesting that benefit would be derived by reporting statistics on a geographical basis in addition to the statistics already received. Discussion on the subject revealed that reporting on a state basis would be costly and impractical. However, reporting on a regional basis would appear to be feasible and will be investigated further. In this respect, Mr. Barnhart was asked to determine the individual company members regional sales bound aries in an attempt to see if there were five or six areas of the country that would be fairly common to the membership. This will be done by mailing maps to the members upon which they are to indicate the sales regions for which they would have figures available in the normal course of business. The estimated cost of handling such an enlarged statistical reporting service will be secured from Price Waterhouse & Company NIMA members were asked to look into their company costs in participating in such a program* This subject will be discussed further at the NIMA Spring Meeting, REVISION TO NIMA CONSTITUTION Mr. H. T. Williams reported that the Committee had met and discussed the expansion of the membership categories in the NIMA Constitution to include the foamed plastic manufacturers. Because of the fact that foamed plastic was a different product than those presently included in the Association with different problems, it was recommended that no change be made in the Con stitution at this time. Following discussion it was the consensus that the Committee's recommendation be accepted.
