8th July 1968.
I would refer to the conversation we had over lunch after the Health Committee last week. You will recall I asked you If you would kindly prepare a note, before the next Health Committee, whose purpose it would be to put the whole Health problem in perspective. X am here of course referring to the Health problem in our factories. The point is I think we all feel, I certainly do, that expenditure of the order that was mentioned at the Health Committee, say 500*000, would just not be justified in the sense that the present risks are extremely small _and one wonders by how much they will be reduced if we spend this sort oT~monev. I feel now it would be very useful if you could prepare this note rather earlier than I originally suggested and I should be much obliged if you would see I have such a note by 28th July. The reason for asking for thi3 note earlier is that by then the new Regulations will be out, the date I have mentioned is close to the next A.R.C. Management Committee meeting, and it may well be that I will need to go and argue with the Ministry about the du3t levels that have been set if, in the event, they prove to be very stringent.
