This is co confirm che substance of our phone conversations of this morning pertaining co the subject change.
It has been determined that in order to reduce the asbestos hazards in handling disc brake pads, the following changes in packaging are required.
1. All containers must be lined with plastic bags.
2. Pads should be neatly stacked in layers.
3. Non-strength cardboard sparatars between layers.
Please communicate to us what will be required to effect this change and also the time required for completion.
Prompt action on this request will be appreciated.

CHANGE PACKAGING AND SHIPPING SPECIFICATIONS - DISC BRAKE PADS FROM BENDIX CORP.
Because of asbestos hazards associated with the handling of disc brake pads, the Toledo Machining Plant is submitting to Corporate Purchasing the following request.
1. That your office contact Bendix Hydraulics and Bendix Friction (suppliers for some of the disc brake pads) and negotiate with them the additional costs that may be involved in changing the mode of packaging of disc brake pads. Disc Brake pads are pres ently shipped loose in wood boxes. We would like to have this item shipped neatly stacked in layers, utilizing cardboard separators between layers and in boxes lined with plastic bags.
2. Your office submit to TMP the additional cost Bendix wants to effect the requested change, so that TMP may review and approve the new expenditures.
3. Amend existing purchase orders to include the new packagingspecifications.
The Toledo Machining Plant will relay to Bendix the details of the requested change so that they can be prepared to act immediately when your inquiry is received by them.
Your prompt action is requested.
