Frantz From: Otis Shelton July 30.1974 Subject: Vinyl Chloride Analyzer for Area Monitoring_ Gentlemen: Last month, a vinyl chloride VPC analyzer was installed in the Bldg. 174 control room to monitor vinyl chloride concentrations throughout the area. The purpose of the analyzer was it to detect sources of vinyl chloride emmdssionm so that they may be corrected asap and , hence, minimize personnel exposure . Last week, the Instrument Department declared the instrument was working as designed and should provide reliable data. In order to fully realize the importance of this instrument , it is important to convince unit personnel of its usefullness and reliability. To accompolish please request thru your chief operator that the chart be macKtank each time an exposure of 50 PPM is exceeded. Mark the source of vinyl chloride exposure if it can be located; if not located indicate that no source could be found. Your cooperation is appreciated, Otis Shelton
