I. Introductory Comments Chairman Adams opened the meeting with introductions and a brief review of the PVC
Safety Group's achievements since its organization in 1974. He pointed out the need to review and rethink the group's mission and objectives.

* Fire Litigation

Committee of Counsel is still indecisive as to its "need to form" and "timing". Next meeting
to be in March. Expenses thereafter to be funded by the new committee. Estimated expen ses to that point in the range of $1,500 (not to exceed).
* Other Activities
If any, could be covered by contingency funds.
4. Future Mission of PVC Safety Group
Dr. Adams assigned to Bill Becker, Jerry Heckman and himself the job of developing a "statement of mission" for the future activities of the PVC Safety Group.
5. Combustibility Issues
Bob Fleshner reviewed the status of the possible test work at Southwest Research Institute.
Dr.. O'Mara described the general plans for testing of PVC with the objective of determining the role of PVC involved in full scale fires.

Funding
A motion was made to initiate the Test work at SWRI if support is provided by the entire group. This was unanimously approved with agreement that a letter soliciting support be sent to the PVC Safety Group's membership. Likewise, it was agreed that if the project was approved that efforts be made to obtain support of the project by non-group members.
6. Ad Hoc Pipe Resin Producers Committee
Dr. Krueger reported on the formation of the committee to deal with the California pipe situation. The immediate objective of this committee will be to support actions directed toward the assurance of the continuing use of plastics pipe in California. A public relation program will be developed and associate counsel is to be retained to assist the program being carried out.
7. Dr. Adams indicated that he will appoint a nominating committeerfor the purpose of developing a slate of officers and companies to the Steering Committee.
