The theme of our Monsanto Fund grants is to preserve the stability in the neighborhood, while the theme of our community relations plan is to educate the community about our facility. The direction of our community relations plan and our Monsanto Fund distributions complement each other in achieving our plant's number one goal - protecting our privilege to operate. Furthermore, through our contributions we reach many of the audiences listed in our community relations plan. The Carondelet Community Betterment Federation (CCBF) receives the largest share of our Monsanto Fund dollars. This organiza tion is comprised of and supported by many community leaders and elected officials. We support the house repair program which assists elderly home owners in repairing their homes so they meet city codes. Another important point, CCBF's executive director and president are key members of our community advisory panel. Our funds also support science education, youth programs, health care, and an organization in nearby Lemay. As you can see, we financially support our target audiences and through our interactions, communicate key messages. There is only one highly hazardous material in the plant phosphorus. No ammonia or chlorine is used in the plant. THIS GROUP IS MADE UP AND SUPPORTED BY MOST OF THE COMMUNITY LEADERS AND ELECTED OFFICIALS IN OUR AREA. IT IS A VERY DIVERSE GROUP AND WE HAVE A STRONG VOICE WITHIN IT. ONE ARM OF THE CCBF IS THE HOME REPAIR PROGRAM. THIS IS ' TE AREA WE SUPPORT THROUGH MONSANTO FUND. THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS PROGRAM IS SW 135714 STLCOPCB4035691 3 ASSIST RESIDENTS (MAINLY ELDERLY, WHO OWN THEIR HOMES), FUND REPAIRS WHICH *ING THEIR HOMES UP TO CITY CODES, TO INSURE THEY ARE ABLE TO MAINTAIN tfN^SHIP OF THEIR HOMES. THE RESIDENTS PAY THE PROGRAM BACK ACCORDING TO i { FINANCIAL ABILITY. WE ARE THE KEY SUPPORTER OF THIS PROGRAM, WHICH IS N.A.P. PROGRAM. WE GET SUBSTANTIAL RECOGNITION FOR OUR SUPPORT THROUGHOUT IE COMMUNITY. THIS PROGRAM KEEPS REDUCE THE INFLUX OF ABSENTEE LANDLORDS, 3US HELPING PRESERVE THE NEIGHBORHOOD. IN 1993 OVER 376 HOMES WERE REPAIRED IICH ASSISTED A LARGE NUMBER OF LOCAL RESIDENTS. BESIDES STABILIZING THE EIGHBORHOOD, WE ALSO INCREASED THE PERCEIVED VALUE OF MONSANTO TO THE EOPLE THAT WERE HELPED. THIS IS THE ONLY GRANT ABOVE $10,000 THAT WE REQUEST. HILE WE HAVE NOT EVER PLEDGED SUPPORT FOR MORE THAN ONE YEAR, WE THINK IT OULD BE PRUDENT. THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR IS A KEY MEMBER OF OUR COMMUNITY DVISORY PANEL. HROUGH MOST OF OUR OTHER GRANTS WE ARE SUPPORTING ORGANIZATIONS THAT ARE LSO HELPING PRESERVE AND STABILIZE THE COMMUNITY AND SUPPORT OUR PRIVILEGE TO PERATE. FAMILY HEALTH CARE CENTER HAS A POSITIVE EFFECT ON THE COMMUNITY. THE XECUTIVE DIRECTOR IS A KEY MEMBER OF OUR CAP. THE PRINCIPAL OF LYON SCHOOL S A KEY CAP MEMBER. THE SALVATION ARMY AND THE YMCA ARE PLAYING KEY ROLES IN TABILIZING THE NEIGHBORHOOD, PROVIDING EDUCATIONAL AND RECREATIONAL PPORTUNITIES FOR YOUTH, DAY CARE FOR WORKING PARENTS, AND ACTIVITIES FOR THE LDERLY. OUR STAFF AND IN SOME CASES OTHER PLANT EMPLOYEES SERVE ON THE OARDS OF MOST OF THE GROUPS THAT WE SUPPORT (ALL KEY ONES). EACH OF THE RGANIZATIONS HAVE DIVERSE REPRESENTATIONS AND PLAY KEY ROLES IN THE COMMUNITY. LEARLY, OUR GRANTS ARE CONSISTENT WITH OUR COMMUNITY RELATIONS PLAN, OUR CAP NTERESTS, AND OUR DESIRE TO PROTECT OUR OUR PRIVILEGE TO OPERATE OUR VERY UCCESSFUL BUSINESS IN THE CARONDELET COMMUNITY.
