Dear Ralph:
Please accept my alncara thanks for the bibliography on tha chronic toxicity of Blaphanol A. Alao plaaaa extend my thaoka to Nlsa Broome for her time and efforta In thla matter.
Regarding tetrapropenylaucclnlo anhydride, X find that Klmer
supplied what Information we have to your associate, Mr. Thomson on August 21 (sea enclosed copies).
tn connection with Aroclor 1254 we have animal toxlolty data
that show an oral
ln r*ts ot 12,000 mg/kg whan administered
undiluted.
When applied undiluted to the skin of rabbits the minimum lethal dose was between 1260 and 2000 mg/kg. When applied as a 40
solution In com oil consecutively for 20 days tha naan lethal doae was approximately 75 mg/kg. Obviously the undiluted material la not readily absorbed whereas oil solutions may
present a hasard If there la repeated and prolonged contact.
We have not done tha usual animal akin and eye Irritation potential studies. Aa far aa tbs akin la concerned we have never had any particular problems during tha manufacture of the material nor have we had any reports of skin reaotlons from uaers. We do know that the liquid Aroclors are pretty
good solvents for the normal fata and oils of the skin and
repeated and prolonged exposure can lead to defatting.

According to our tachnleal bullatlna all of tha Aroolora art "Insoluble* In water. On* of our raaaarch groups la at tha momant setting up a schedule to obtain more definitive watar solubility data. In tha meantime I believe "lnaolubla11 can be Interpreted to mean solubility of lees than 1 ppm. This Is baaed on a very crude experiment that Elmar and Dr. Rally conducted a number of years ago with Aroclor 1242.
When we have additional data available on solubility I will get In touch with you.
Best personal regards.
Sincerely,
WHHtcJa
