FINAL Customer Letter Regarding LX Transition
October 25, 2017
Dear Valued Customer,
This letter is to inform you that Chemours will begin transitioning TeflonTM PTFE Dispersion product offerings which utilize our nonfluorinated surfactant technology back to TeflonTM PTFE Dispersion products that utilize our legacy surfactant technology made without the use of PFOA. Specifically; PTFE Dispersion grades TeflonTM Disp 30LX, and TeflonTM Disp 40LX will be replaced by the familiar legacy grades TeflonTM Disp 30 and TeflonTM Disp 40.
This transition is in response to recent information that has been brought to our attention regarding impurities, partially fluorinated sulfonates and sulfates, found in our polymer dispersion products that utilize our nonfluorinated surfactant technology.
Our technical experts have been working hard to test different techniques to address these impurities. We have seen positive results with our initial testing, but we need additional time to complete the testing.
This is not a recall, and a safety concern has not been identified. The approach Chemours is taking is one based on an abundance of caution and reflects our commitment to act swiftly to address these impurities.
Please be assured that addressing these impurities is a priority for our team. Chemours is committed to developing more sustainable products and our non-fluorinated surfactant, is part of that commitment. While we address the impurities that have been recently identified be assured Chemours commitment to more sustainable chemistry remains unchanged.
Our aim is for minimal disruption to our customers' operations, and we expect this transition to occur over the next 2-3 weeks. In the meantime, please don't hesitate to contact your Sales or Customer Service Representative to assist you during the transition period.
We appreciate your patience and will continue to provide you updates on our progress and next steps.
Sincerely,
