Let's recognize this fact and work toward inclusion of a section requiring an ir.dependent laboratory to verify density of the sprayed fireproofing. This requirement has been written into several large projects lately and has also been included in a recent submittal to C.S.I. for review of the "Sprayed Fireproofing Specification", Document No. 3 (June 1965)* Example: TESTS: The architect will select and the Owner will pay an independent testing laboratory to sample the applied material for conformance to the appropriate fire test approved for the project. Particular emphasis is to verify the density of the material as applied. This paragraph in a specification forces the fiber contractors bidding the project to provide a proper density and their bid price will reflect it. It keeps everybody honest.
