(Graul) Reported BRAB had task group to evaluate NIMA*s Economic Tjickness Table, Result - basically had a lot of merit have simplified using same formula and theory and are publishing ( 4 page document for Government use, 5, (Barnhart) Will forward information re: simplified method of using Economic Thickness Table to all at meeting. 2 II. Recommended Practices 1. (Loux) Considering-doing away with wire mesh to plaster on exposed piping. Contractors prefer canvas. 2. (Loux) Requested industry advise these recommendations parti cularly on cold side where aluminum vapor bassier is must. 3. (Graul) Two separate problems, should be treated as such; (a) Cold side - vapor barrier is main concern (b) Hot side - insulation is prime interest 4. (Loux Zc Graul) Treatment of Manholes - mechanical damage - Yard Dock spec requires 18 guage aluminum jacket. GSA also requiring aluminum jacket protection. 5. (Loux) Thermal Insulation internal (Duct) 6. (King) Are the duct liners (glass fiber) germ breeders? 7. (Brogginni) Reported - IT* S. Health report actually grew microbes within filters, 8. (King) Fire resistant jackets and protection - what is practical, what is economical. 9. (King) Should manufacturers advise against additional finishes over Flame Retardant Jackets. 10. (Brogginni) Canvas Jackets - Will allow 3-1/2 oz. minimum. Consensus was that a standardization of applicable weights and their areas of application. 11. (Barnhart) That Committee (T Sc R) has this on next Agenda. 12. (King) Y/hy not use same retardant jacket on hot and cold? Consensus - No particular problem, possible to seal both in same manner* 13, (Strickland) What is feeling of Government towards manufactured molded fittings? (Graul) Helps a lot. Corps of Engineers, Air Force, Yards h Docks are leaning toward molded fittings of same material. Consensus - Factory molded fittirg of same- material. 14, (King) Why not a listing of manufacturers - finishes, fittings, etc, .15, (Loux) What are recommendations regarding treatment of flexible connections. \ ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
