oi'i.i, m n Radiantriiti Panels by Awewcan - Standard Cast iron baseboard panels for forced hot water or two pipe steam systems American - c$tai?daffd First In hunting . . first In plumbing 03918 (April, 19511 r Radiantrim by AMEMCAN-c$tattdaifd --the modern way to heat with a forced hot water or two-pipe steam system Imagine your home with even, healthful warmth coming from a source so inconspicuous as to be practically invisible! This is one of the benefits of heating with Radiantrim Panels by American-Standard. These cast iron heating panels, replacing wood baseboards normally along outside cold walls, are acclaimed the most advanced type of radiant heating. These compact modem radiators blanket the cold rim of each room with a wall of warmth, making all the space livable. Radiantrim Panels provide an improved method of heat distribution. Installed at ankle level, they blanket the entire floor area with radiant warmth. Sun-like radiant rays warm everything in their path and provide more even room temper atures w ith only a slight difference between ceiling and floor. Radiantrim Panels assure better balanced heating, more rapid heating, and warmer floors. Besides top-notch heating qualities, Radiantrim Panels offer distinctive decorating advantages. When recessed they require about an inch of floor space, thus allowing complete freedom of furniture arrangement. They can be painted to harmonize with any room color scheme. Radiantrim Panels are practical, easy to install, and rea sonable in price. Extremely flexible in use, they give the same uniform, healthful warmth whether used for new construction or modernization. Radiantrim Panels furnish heat in two effective ways--by radiation and convection. But their superior design makes them far more effective than other radiant heating methods. These 8 inch high panels emit a blanket of uniform, draft-/rrr heat directly into the living zone of a room. The sun-like radiant rays warm everything in their path, including rhea masses of cold air usually found at floor levels. As the warm air rises it spreads an even warmth throughout the room. Infiltrating cold air is stopped effectively at the source, where it enters the room. Down-drafts at windows are counter acted. And the result is more healthful, comfortable heating. Copyright 1951. Amencon Radiator & Stonaard Sonifory Corporation It takes a sharp eye to detect Radiantrim Panels as the source of room heat. That's because in size and shape they resemble the ordinary wood baseboard. But--decorators acclaim them for other reasons as well. When recessed, Radiantrim Panels require virtually no floor space. And as shown in the illustra tion (left) there is nothing to interfere with the graceful fall of drapes or freedom of furniture arrangement. Radiantrim Panels permit full use of floor and wall space. To make therr^ harmonize even more inconspicuously, panels can be painted to match walls or wood trim. 03919 Radiantrim Extension Panels and Accessories permit an uninterrupted baseboard line from wall to wall 1 Radiantrim Extension Panels and Accessories by AmericanStandard help to complete Radiantrim Panel installations. They add the finishing touch that makes a completely modem job. Where Radiantrim Panels are installed on outside walls. Extension Panels arc used to provide a continuous baseboard line around the rest of the room. Since they are made of sheet steel and can be cut on the job to fit extension requirements, these panels provide an economical way ro cover pipes and till in short paps between the Radiantrim Panel assembly and comer of room. They can even lie installed free standing or recessed exactly like Radiantrim Panels. Installation of Extension Panels is an easy matter. They are designed to fit neatly, without overlap of bulky projec tion. joining at either end of a Radiantrim Panel assembly. Support brackets and connecting pieces are provided to hold Extension Panels rigidly to the wall and to offer a smoothly joined assembly of two or more panels. Extension Panels are readily adaptable to virtually any architectural arrangement. I i VALVE ENCLOSURE Aectu door con bo romovod osily to pormit opening or doting of volvo when nocot* tory. Together with Extension Panels, they form a most economical way to complete baseboard installa tions. And what Extension Panels add in appearance and convenience more than compensates for their slight addi tional cost. ' *1, fW-f* There's nothing difficult aliout the instal lation of Extension Panels, first, panels are locked into place over a special support bracket screwed to the wall. And. as shown in the close-up. a connecting piece is sim ply positioned to cover ioinr where Exten sion Panels meet. That's all there is ro a near, speedy job. Accessibility ol all equip ment. at all times and for any reason, is another big feature. Aeeessories--valve enclosures and corner covers -- shown at left are designed so that valves, connec tions and piping can be reached quickly and casilv if desired. Radiantrim Panels offer Hc.xibilitv of installation. In one home they provide an inconspicuous but effective source ot heat w lien run beneath a picture window or any laree expanse ot class. In another, with eipial cliccmeness. they can be installed under bookcases and cabinets as pictured on file right. And they work wonders in modernization jobs when installed in the con ventional manner or special applications. With Radiantrim Panels there are no limitations on the use ot Hnor coverings. w Inch can ranee from linoleum or asphalt rile to heavy carpets or rues. Radiantrim Panels are becoming more and more popular tor heating homes, hotels, apartments, hospitals and a wide ranee ot commercial structures. ASSURE EFFICIENT HEAT TRANSFER The design of Radiantrim Panels reflects years of American-Standard research in the use and effect ot radiant hear, I ach panel is backed w irh an arras1 of tins. Such design not onlv permits the combined advantages of both radiant and convcctcd hear, bur also increases rile rate ot heat Transmission. Radiantrim Panels assure maximum transfer ot heat to surrounding air. thus providing better comfort at reduced cost. I hex1 offer ipuck comforting response to the rhermostur s eail tor heat -- and there is no uncomfortable lag or over-rulc after file demand has been satisfied. MADE OF CAST IRON Radiantrim Panels promise lifetime service because they are made of cast iron, the metal that has proven its enduring qualities. Cast iron is also knoxxn as an excellent conductor of heat, which accounts m part for rhe high heat output and effectiveness of Radijnrntn Panels. And all panels have rhe smoothly finished front surface so essential to good appearance and a smart, trim installation. SPACE SAVING These cast iron panels can be partially or fully recessed, normallx to the depth of the lath and plaster. When so installed. Radiantrim Panels extend into the room little more than an inch --by comparison, about the width of a fifty-cent piece.
