WILSON MFG CO; - HOUSTON; TEXAS Recommended axlesj both front and rear, for Wilson's drill rig models Super 38 and 42 i Engineering is involved with the program of re-powering its high volume rigs so that it can build the best possible rig and realize a cost savings from its current design. Prior to meetings, Engineering was leaning toward a single reduction tandem, which has been an "on-and-off" program for approximately two years; I again cautioned them of the potential problems with single reduction gearing in an off-road application. The Rockwell representative continues to visit regularly and is attempting to pursuade Wilson to switch to its single reduction tandem which has been approved for the oil well servicing rig. During the past six years we have not had a report of a gear and pinion failure in this application with our double reduction axles. Meeting was held with the International Sales group which is currently involved with selling rigs to Libya and China; C. IDECO- BEAUMONT, TEXAS (M. Zemanick - Engineering Group Leader) An inventory of DCB-34-50-6 and DKB-34-50-15 front axles continues to exist; however preparations are being made to engineer the EFA-22T5 axle into Ideca's high volume rig. All indications are that we will receive an order for a prototype during the latter part of the year. We have attempted to sell our rear tandems to Ideco for some time and were very close to cracking this account in early 1982 but were not successful due to the dry-up of the oil patch which left a large inventory of Rockwell axles. M. Zemanick feels that if we can offer an attractive axle package, he will certainly consider switching to our axles totallyi Ideco Sales, along with Ingersol Rand, Wilson and Skytop, is involved with the Libyan government for a potential order of between four and six rigs. Ingersol Rand, Wilson and Skytop are quoting our DP-480-Pi Hopefully this will force Ideco to engineer our tandem into its rig^ EAB 00754^
