Section I - INTRODUCTION
Slant Operating, LLC / Denney Lease Inspection Date: 02/25/2020
PURPOSE OF THE INSPECTION EPA Region 6 inspectors Jeanne Eckhart and Kayla Woods visited the Slant Operating, LLC oil and gas facility located near Vernon, Texas on 02/25/2020 for an unannounced inspection. There were no representatives of Slant Operating, LLC present for the inspection. The inspection was conducted by authority of the Clean Water Act and the Safe Drinking Water Act to determine compliance with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations.
FACILITY DESCRIPTION This facility was located on the Denney Lease and was an active tank battery with 2 storage tanks and a seperator on site.
Section II - OBSERVATIONS I observed that the tank battery did not have secondary containment. I observed significant damage outside of the containment area near the creek that runs by the facility at the time of the inspection. I saw vegetation in the contaminant area of the tank battery as well.
Section III - AREAS OF CONCERN There was vegetation in the tank battery area and no secondary containment.
Section IV - FOLLOW UP EPA water enforcement will refer this facility to EPA Region 6 SPCC program.
