Your Local Arrangements Chairman, Eldon Dobyns, and his committee have done a great job. The Section appreciates Eldon's time and effort as well as those of the Sierra Pacific Power Company, our host utility. George Adrian and the Technical Program Committee have prepared an outstanding technical program that includes an additional one-half day of General Sessions; and Bob Walters and the Exhibit Committee have provided for registrants at the conference to view educational exhibits covering the full spectrum of products, materials, and services useful to their work. The technical and exhibit programs closely parallel that of a national convention in both quality and quantity. The MGM Grand Hotel is a spectacular entertainment mecca in itself. Many of you will spend your entire time there. For you more adventuresome ones, the Reno area has historic mining tours, museums, beautiful Lake Tahoe, and many other attractions to visit. The roll of the dice says you're a loser if you miss one of the all time great Fall Conferences and a sure winner if you attend. Looking forward to seeing you in Reno. A simple "hi" would not suffice. Arden says "Hello" to the movie capital of the world twice nightly in a spectacular called, appropriately, "Hello Hollywood, Hello!" Arden is aided in his "Hello" by a cast of over 100 dancers and singers who, with Arden,-pay tribute to the great MGM studio legend and the stars and movies that are a part of a by-gone era. But again, Arden doesn't give just a simple tribute; the rousing curtain-raiser is nothing short of spectacular. Arden converts the world's largest stage into Reno's Cannon International Airport, complete with an almost life-size DC-9 on the stage. The plane, a mock-up built for the production show, is embellished by stewardesses, dressed in gold bikinis. The opening number welcomes Hollywood to Reno and the MGM Grand Hotel and then gracefully slides into a tribute to the dance musicals of the 30's and 40's. Donn Arden's "Hello Hollywood, Hello!" is a production show to end all production shows, indeed, the most lavish show of our time. KIRBY ST.
