The best of these products, in the best of their formulations, are being put on field test this year, with a view towards being able to market such a prod uct in fiscal 1966 if we so wish. E. E. SAVILLE S. T. BOWELL Y-1851 vs. Competitive Primers Comparisons have been made of Glldden's Endurance Basecoat, Y-1851-L, vs, eight major competitive primers. Our preliminary tests show Y-1851-L to be superior to all other primers. Our initial tests include brushing, dry, water soak, and blister tests. Further tests are being conducted on exterior exposures. These exposures include cedar, white pine, yellow pine, and fir plywood. Blister tests ere in progress on the GIMG's and in the deep freeze blister box. The following table rates each paint tested and summarizes the results. These tests confirm that Y-1851-L is a superior, easy brushing, non-staining, blister-resistant primer. Table is shown on page 84.
