SKRETVEDT 8-743-2405 ASBESTOS CONFERENCE - NOVEMBER 17-18 AT RICHMOND _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Attached is a copy of the preliminary agenda, including each attendee's assigned topics, for the upcoming Asbestos Conference now rescheduled for November 17 and 18 in Richmond, Virginia. The meetings will be held at the 2001 VIP Supper Club at 7801 W. Broad Street. I have reserved rooms at the Day's Inn Motel located at 2100 Dickens Road (off Broad Street at about the 6500 block). Call (804) 282-3300, identify yourself as a Du Pont conference attendee, and make your necessary room reservations. We will meet in the lobby of the Day's Inn Motel at 8:00 a.m. Thursday and wind up Friday with lunch at 1:00 p.m. Please make your travel plans accordingly. This meeting is in response to a desire expressed by all of us to` "get together". To make this"short time together meaningful, it is imperative that each of us do a thorough job of preparing a small part of the agenda, as there will be no instructors. Please begin now to thoughtfully and thoroughly prepare your topic, as time will be needed for interplant comnunication, etc. Please comnunicate any information, data, ideas, learning experiences, etc. on topics other than yours to the appropriate party so they can pool our composite knowledge together before the meeting. The meeting will be informal, with each of us stating what information we could gather, what conclusions we arrived at, and our recontnendations on how our topic should best be dealt with. Regarding your assigned topic, I suggest (where appropriate); (1) everyone seems to want to know what the other plants are doing, so for those appropriate tODics, poll-the plans to see how they are handling the topic, summarize this information to make it easily presentable nilP innniin during your discussion period. You may want to use a questionnaire uur 1U13040 to make this information gathering procedure easier. (2) Feel free to contact outside sources for ideas, information, products, etc. where appropriate. (3) Hopefully the meeting will be practical approach to dealing with asbestos. Make it "hands on" wherever possible. Feel free to bring literature, samples, equipment, slides, video tapes, asbestos substitutes, or whatever. The purpose of your preconference work is not just to raise questions, but determine as many answers as possible through research, contacts, etc. (6) Read over S4T and the Asbestos Standard, copies attached, as they relate to your topic.
