Wehh Ethyl Gasoline Corporation Chrysler Building Hew York City New York Bear Mr* Webb , Confirming my brief conversation with you on this subject, I would like to put myself on record in regard to the type of mixing equipment to be employed in mix5.ng Ethyl Fluid with ordinary gasoline in'ac cordance with the program which Is being outlined for the future. The observations of the past few years have led me to feel that the tank car mixing Installations are much to be preferred to the drum mixing equipments. I believe that the Corporation should continue to give every consideration to matters of safety both in its own interest and in that of those who carry out mixing operations. It seems to me that the .mixing of Ethyl Fluid with ordinary gasoline will result in more fre quent blending than is customary now in th case of premium fuels. In some instances it seems likely that It may be necessary or advisable to mix certain amounts of standard_fuel almost daily. In this situation it seems advisable to use only the best equipment which has been devised for the purpose. I am sure it will be greatly to the advantage of the Corporation if it could limit this type of mixing to the use of tank car equip ment. This policy would serve a double purpose. It would decrease the hazards for any Single set of equip ment, while at the same time it would bring about a tendency on the part of the customers of the Corporation to maintain only such sites for mixing as were 'entirely necessary.
