Mofley T. Ozarchuk PMSB SHAC The Hourly Safety Committee held its regular monthly meeting on October 28. Mark Riddle, new safety engineer in Loss Prevention and Safety was our guest. He gave the Committee a brief summary of his responsi bilities and activities. New Business HSC members reported on several items of concern on which they are working on an individual basis and needed no assistance. The recent West Plant shutdown was discussed. Comments were made regarding heavy vehicles moving too fast on the streets. Also, contractor safety was not as good as we would desire. Safety Glasses Repair There is some misunderstanding regarding minor repair of safety glasses outside the specific times for routine safety glasses transaction. Tony Ozarchuk stated that minor repairs could be made any time during regular working hours. He will follow up with Safety Supply personnel. Permanent Ladder Inspection A. E. Mofley expressed concern over the potential problems with permanent ladders--such as on columns--and inquired if vessel in spections (AVXP) included ladder installation inspection. C. M. Cruse will follow up on this item. Old Business ,a Bicycles for HSC Members LAM014249 The HSC member bicycles were assigned to the members. A plant-wide bulletin board announcement was made concerning the new bicycles and their intended exclusive use by HSC members. This item is complete. Elastic Safety Glasses Retainer Straps Tony Ozarchuk brought examples of retainer straps that will be stocked in Safety Supply. This item is complete. Additional Eye Protection Tony Ozarchuk brought a sample of clip-on side shields which have been ordered for stocking in Safety Supply. This item is complete. Plant-wide Roach Problem Roach spraying has been taking place in the plant, but without very effective results. C. M. Cruse will follow up on this item with Purchasing. Transtackers The inoperative transtacker has been repaired. This item is complete. Rubble Blocking Access to Substation 412-8 This item was again reported to Leonard Schwab last month and will be followed up by C. M. Cruse. Ice Handling for Field Ice Water Coolers HSC Chairman, Joe Lonsford, reported that he has recently seen ice being placed in Opel coolers without being washed. The tops of the coolers are being secured. CED coolers are apparently o.k. C. M. Cruse will follow up on this. The next meeting will be held on November 25 at 2:00 p.m. in Conference Room 2 of the Personnel Building. C. M.
