December 5, 19^0 Dr. R. A. Kehoe Dear Dr. Kehoe Attached is a copy of a report just completed, and covering experiments on tank ventilation carried out early this year in Hynes, California, thrtrogh the courtesy of The Richfield Cil Corporation of California. I have spoken to you once or twich about these, and 'ave also discussed them a couple oftimes with Dr. Machle. In accordance witht he present Ethyl policy of having any papers pretty carefully edited before they are put into the hands of outside people, I Mould appre ciate your looking this over and, if possible, approving for distribution to those manufacturers who cooperated with us by lending equipment. Specifically, those are Shand and Jurs of Berkeley, California, and The Lamb Air foil Co. of San Francisco. I really believe that mechanical ventilation, when considered merely qs a tool for tank cleaning and not as a substitute for masks and other protective equipment, has a good deal of merit. I rather hope that the Corp oration and the Laboratory will feelfc hat additional experiments along thi3 line should be carried out, for they certainly are in line with the present pjS/Dicy of aJi investigation of all phases of tank cleaning, and cooper ation with the industry in general. With the knowledge gained in this initial investigation it would be pos sible bocarry out future ones with considerably improved technique and greater accuracy. A copy of this report is also being sent to New York with much the same request; viz, that it be approved for distribution to the abovementloned people .
