Ohio 44131 U S"A Dear Dr. Zwicker: In my letter of May 31, 1974 I told you that I try to get more informations from the Bonn physicians about liver damage of the workers of our floor tile production. . After several trials I got Professor Lelbach who gave the paper in New York (not Dr. Marsteller). He strictly * pointed out that he has some VC liver cases of our workers employed in the floor tile plant. He said that the vinyl chloride liver is very characteristic and there is no error. We recently measured carefully the YC content in the floor tile plant. It was very low, if any. Very small quantities in the area of the mixing equipment were found. These two statements - the observations of Prof. Lelbach and our measurements - are contrary. There only stays the possibility that at certain weather conditions the off-VC of the neighbour PYC plant blows in the floor tile plant. We intend to install continuous measurements. Do you have systematic investigations of employees in the neighbourhood of the PVC plant and what kind of results do you have? In total we have 15 suspected cases in PVC molding plants, 1o of them in the floor tile plant. I repeat, suspected or possible case$ not definite cases.
