Assistant COVER The strange-looking etructure on the cover ie a radar screen, a unit of the Air Force's BMEWS (Ballistic Missile Early Warning System) and one of four being built under the most adverse conditions near Thule on the northern tip of Greenland. The screens will be 460 long. 165 feet high and strong enough to withstand winds that may run as high as 180 miles per hour. The Thule installation is one of three to be built in the Arctic at an eventual coat of 1600 million. Four AGC contractors arc building the first units at Thule under a joint venture.
