LEAD INDUSTRIES ASSOCIATION, In c . 292 MADISON AVENUE NEW YORK, N. Y. 10017 TELEPHONE -- AREA CODE 212 OR *4020 July 6, 1965 SUBJECT: ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR SAFETY & HYGIENE PUBLIC RELATIONS To the Board of Directors of the Lead Industries Association, Inc.: The Public Relations for Safety and Hygiene Committee, Messrs. J. R. Englehorn, A. H. Drewes and S. D. Strauss, met on April 29, 1966 at the request of the Secretary to consider allotting an additional sum of money for expenses incurred by Hill and Knowlton, our public relations counselor. The Secretary pointed out that the present budget for this activity is $46,000.00, $36,000 of which is their general counseling fee and $10,000.00 for staff time and expenses. In the first quarter of 1966, $5,600.00 of the $10,000.00 were expended and heavier expenditures could be expected in the second quarter because of the "Muskie Hearings" on water and air pollution. The Committee thereupon approved an additional $10,000.00 to be allotted for Hill and Knowlton's staff time and expenses, bringing the total for the year to $56,000.00, well within the $111,000 public relations budget for 1966. Sincerely yours. LI AC ]> 3 2
