Vinyl Chloride Training Program
This letter is issued as a reminder to each plant that is using either poly*vinyl chloride resin or vinyl chloride monomer. If your plant is no longer using this material, these inrtructiono can be ignored.
A requirement of the vinyl chloride standard requires annual training of persons who are handling or usinc either of these material's! A training program was prepared by the Training Division and sent to each plant in April of 1975* The law requires that this training program be presented annually.
If this program has not been presented in your plant within the pact year., then it should be presented again fer those employees who are working with polyvinyl chloride or vinyl chloride monomer. Please send a list of all persons to vhsr. the program L* given to this office.

Subject: Vinyl Chloride Training Program
The permanent OSHA standard for Vinyl Chloride becomes effective on April 1, 1975.
The training requirements are stated in 1910.95q under item (j)
which states, in part, that "each employee engaged in vinyl
chloride or polyvinyl chloride operations shall be provided
training in a program relating to the hazards of vinyl chloride
and precautions for its safe use".

Enclosed is a script and visual aids prepared by the Occupational Health Services and Training departments for your use in complying with the training requirements of the standard. The program covers the basic subjects noted in the standard. It is your responsibility to supplement this script with material pertinent to your particular facility concerning personal protective devices to be used when indicated, emergency procedures, etc.
The enclosed material should be given to the individual responsible for training at your facility.
The training program must be given to all employees" working with vinyl chloride monomer and/or polyvinyl chloride resin at an initial training or indoctrination session and presented annually thereafter.
At each training session employees participating in the session should sign an attendance shet. The attendance sheet must be, retained as a record of participation.
Additional copies of the script and visual aids are available on request from Paul Morehouse, Manager, Management Training, Akron, Ohio.
