Liening 1. Dow no longer installs asbestos containing insulation. They have made no policy decision to remove asbestos containing insulation before any target date. As items are reinsulated or taken out of service, the asbestos containing insulation is removed using standard protective practices. 2. Dow has made no policy decision to quit using asbestos gaskets or packing. They are encouraging the use of substitute gasket and packing material where such substitutions can be easily made and they are setting up a tesC loop where "non-asbestos" gaskets can be tested under realistic chemical exposures. 3. Dow is still buying asbestos gaskets and packing. 4. They have not instituted special handling requirement to protect personnel while handling asbestos gaskets or packing. GBE/ds G. B.
