Conference was arranged at our office at request of Mr. Booth to discuss two Workmens' Compen Calims, one of which involves a Phillips Petroleum Company former employee at their Kansas Ci Kansas refinery, and the. other a deceased employee of Eureka Petroleum Company, Phillips jobb Kansas City. ~ Both lawyers were about to take depositions in their respective cases and the interview was h marily to familiarize themselves with the possible hazards involved in the work of the men fo the claims are being made. Mr. Booth informed me that their former refinery employee is Everett 0. Dowell who was an ele at their Kansas City refinery. He was neither an Ethyl blender nor a laboratory employee but had occasion to enter the Ethyl blending plant. His claim is based upon respiratory trouble contends was caused by exposure to petroleum and gasoline vapors encountered while working in parts of their plant. As far as I could determine, TEL exposure has not been mentioned speci except in a very general way as one of the many factors whiehmight have caused his condition. Mr. Booth was given Dr. R. A. Kehoe's address at his request because he may wish to communica Dr. Kehoe for medical advice or literature related to this case. The other case, which is being handled by Mr. Buck, is a death claim in which it is stated th Eureka Petroleum Company employee worked on delivery of gasoline and fuel oil, the cleaning o sumers' fuel oil tanks, and did other work around the Eureka plant which exposed him to gasol fuel oil vapors resulting in a blood condition which, according to medical opinion received b is similar to that resulting from benzol poisoning. ' ' I informed Messrs. Booth and Buck that I was unable to give them any Information of a medic nature, but gave them a fairly lengthy explanation of the hazards involved in handling of petroleum and related information. In view of the nature of the claims I cannot quite unde their interest in the possibilities of lead poisoning from Ethyl Fluid except perhaps to pr for all contigencies which may arise. - We have been requested to do nothing further on either of these cases until such time as ei attorney communicates direct with Dr. Kehoe.
