In general, the accepted method for air sampling is done by charcoal adsorption, carbon disulfide desorption and chromatographic analysis. I have enclosed the N10SH sampling data sheet and full NIOSH method description for your review. The NIOSH P&CAM 178 method uses charcoal tubes and a pump. More recently it has become industry practice to sample with passive monitors which do not require a pump or calibration. Also other potential sampling problems are reduced with the use of passive monitors, I have also enclosed information on several of these devices. If you do not routinely do air sampling, I would recommend you have a certified contract laboratory do your analysis for VCM air samples. I have enclosed a list of laboratories in your area.
