ESAR Subcommittee met; answers due to VAB by 10/7/83. II. Injury Review included: Frank Blanchard, Charles Holcomb, Charles Kinsey, Larry Stoltz, Frank McMillian, William Moore injuries. III. Chemical Exposure: A. PEM reviewed VCM results year-to-date as compared to 1982; results are shown on the attached table. B. Administrative leak repair procedure to start 10/3/83 for VCM. C. There is a concern for Line I mill operators doing cleanup work and being exposed to lead. SBV to issue procedure that requires the use of 3M air hat for cleanup in pit and dumping of material into gaylord boxes. D. Honeywell VCM Computer States: 1. Tubing - changes in location approved by State; terminate by 10/7/83. 2. Printer - Here 10/24/83; G. C. tie-ins at the incinerator 10/24/83. 3. Warning Lights - ready to verify the gas test. NOTE: CCD has not provided the plant with the necessary documentation for the software package. IV. Injury Classification - primary concerns in this area have been ex pressed by several members regarding the ratios of first aid versus medical type injuries. The current status of the alarm system is: A. The p.a. system is out in the vinyl area of the plant due to a mal functioning amplifier. B. The Gaitromcs System units have been checked and all but two have been repaired {743 and 400). VJe are awaiting parts on these. C. As is, the Gaitromcs and p.a. systems are not going to allow for the replacement of the siren. The plant-wide communications systems will have to be upgraded. VI. Subcommittee Progress: A. Injury Investigation - CRS has drafted; ready for initial review by department heads. B. Vessel Blinding - committee formed; DJM is chairman, Stan Allen, Calvin Greene, and Jorge Perez-Velasco, to meet in early October. C. Audits - no progress; one committee member or another has been out. D. 1984 Safety Program - significant discussions occurred; no real concensus was reached. VII. Upcoming Safety Meeting Topics include: Fork Truck (Vinyl), Cylinder Handling (Airco & Randy Beane), First Aid, Respirators, Makeup Fire Training, etc. were mentioned. Vinyl requested the chain saw film used by Maintenance. It was requested and should be here by 10/7/83. VIII. WFH expressed concern over inconsistencies in the use of personal protective equipment JF closed the meeting with a request for all members to write their thoughts on the committee and its direction; what has been done, what should be done, and how to improve.
