During the week of May 14 I investigated a aroblem with the new asbestos-free All Purpose in Memphis. The mud was being used by Elston i.'ood. his applicators had the following complaints about use of the mud in taping. The tape did wnen applied with a bazooka, the edges showed when the tc.no >&s wiped down, and the edges of the tape curled up as the mud dried.
The causes of the above problems may be attributed to three factors;
1. The change co the new formula coincided with the change to the new bags. The new bags made the applicators extremely aware of the formula change. This resulted in a very critical appraisal of the new product.
f. The open time of the new formula is go d.

The iippiicators will have a chance to adjust to the new oap,<; on a orouucc taut they are used to. Because the problc1 in . npnls iias slowed the cme change-over to asestos-frce has. products, .o feel that Acme should begin stamping their asbestos products wits, warning labels.
Je will modify the formula slightly in order to extend the open time.
h. Jack Hopkins has approximately 1.1,000 rolls of U.G.C. rape on order. The applicators in Memphis prefer U.f'.G. tape eecause they feel our tape beco-ws too weak when it is /at. At this time I feel that the curled edge problem ^ill not recur ir tiie U. , .G. caoe c: at hack nas ordered is of normal 'j.o.G. i uaiuy.
e hav< been shipping this asbestos-free formula exclusively into Oklahoma for several months. It is also ueinp shipped into several other areas. All comments from these arena have been very favor able.
