The data for October and November represents the exposure data after the corrected standardization and calibration procedures were initiated. The earlier data showed the VCM exposure to be very near 1.0 ppm within the regulated area. Thirty-three percent of the daily average values exceeded 1.0 ppm. The most current average results are much lower, at or below 0.5 ppm VCM, while twelve percent of the individual daily average values exceeded 1.0 ppm. This reduction in the current average exposure values indicates the likelihood of the earlier calibration procedure produced data that was biased on the high side as would be expected based on the problem found during the calibration of the instrumentation. The sample was analyzed at a higher loop pressure than the standard thus causing a larger sample to be analyzed for each sample point. One individual of the forty-six tested throughout the year while performing normal duties exceeded 1 ppm. This amounts to a 2.0% overexposure rate. In summary, the average values for the fixed point monitoring system analyses show the VCM exposure to be at or below 0.5 ppm. This exposure also agrees with the personnel dosimeter data for those employees working this area of the plant. It is recommended that the Regulated Area No. I be deregulated.
