Middleton subject Hack Dana Clut/h Tr4nsfer location Production Control * .1 \A During a meeting v/ith Dana representatives on 3 February, final planning for the Mack-Dana clutch transfer was completed. The folloi.'ing summary is forwarded for information and appropriate action: 1. Driven Discs. Dana has shipped, in total, all driven discs required for February. It appears Mack will be able to stop production on these parts early in March. 2. Pressure plates and intermediate plates. It was deter mined to extend the transfer date of affected machines from 35 February to 1 March. The machines to be moved are listed on attachment (l). Dana will then assume responsibility for these parts. Their initial delivery will be for 1 April 1969 in plant. 3. Covers and clutch assemblies. The machines involved in the manufacture and assembly of these parts will be cut-off at 0800 on 14 March 1969. Attachment (2) lists the machines affected. Dana will assemble and their initial delivery, in plant, will be 6 May 1969. Note that machine #4029, Treble Balancer, and machine ,?4513, Adjuster, uill be hold for further assembly operations until 6 April 1969- At this time these machines will be pulled, skidded and shipped, prepaid, to the Auburn plant. The assembly table will a3.so be shipped at this tirr.c. 4. Miscellaneous parts. The machines involved in the manu facture of pivots, fulcrums, and levers will be cut-off at 0800 16 May 1969. See attachment (3) for a listing of the machines. Mack will provide support for these parts through at least 21 July 1969. This date is the earliest Dana can be expected to produce these parts. PTO sleeves and thrust washers - Dana is experiencing trouble in finding a suitable vendor to heat treat these sleeves and washers. To alleviate this pi'oblcn we v/ill build a bank of sleeves to cover requirenents through August. Also we will run out the total calendar year's requirements on small runners. One point should be noted. It may be necessary for Hack to heat treat Dana sleeves and thrust washers until an adequate vendor can be found. *. 6. All service orders will be processed through Hagerstown until at least September 1969. The following action is required: 1. Purchasing - Issue necessary documentation and/or authorization to ship for machines listed on attachments (1), (2) and (3). 2. Production and^Control - Schedule shutdown of machines as noted above. 3- Maintenance Department - Disconnect affected machines and move to Shipping Department.per described schedules. Please note the special handling required for machines #4029 and 4513. Move residual machines from Dept. 180 as prescribed by Industrial Engineering (See 5 belou). 4. Manufacturing Engineering - Provide for utilization of residual machines in Department 180. 5. Industrial Engineering - Furnish work orders and layouts as necessary to support Manufacturing Engineering's plan see paragraph 4 above. 6. Industrial Relations - Develop schedules to transfer and/or phase out personnel in Department 180. 7 Accounting - Develop prices and billing procedures for interim period when Mack is supporting Auburn plant as well as overall procedures for future.
