As you will note Dr. Goddard has acknowledged re ceipt of a copy of our April 14 letter to the full Committee by means of which we supplied everyone with copies of the FDA hallucinogenic drugs release. We are very pleased with Dr. Goddard's commendatory comments and we trust that you and the other members of the Committee will feel the same way. While writing to supply you with a copy of Dr. Goddard's letter, we thought we would also take this opportunity to bring everyone on the Com mittee up to date with regard to our Olefins Polymer Regulation problem. You will recall that the last step taken was our filing of a letter with Mr. Randolph on April 12 indicating that the amending language he had proposed to take care of the copolymers question would be satisfactory to us. We have been in touch with Mr. Randolph regularly since our letter was filed, and have been informed that the formal amendment of the regulation to include the language he suggested was being handled as promptly as possible. One reason for the delay is the fact that the recent resignation of Earl Detwiler has left an unfilled gap in the administration staff as far as the Division of Food Standards and ASI 00000104 Mr. George W. Ingle April 28, 1966 Page Two Additives is concerned so that there has been difficulty in obtaining this Division's comments on any proposal. As of yesterday, Mr. Randolph informed us that the amending order has been placed in final fcri.-, has been circulated through all of the technical divisions, and is now simply awaiting the usual ini tialling by the FDA front office. Final action can be expected momentarily, we believe. As soon as we have word from Mr. Randolph about a publica tion date, we shall advise you further but, in the meantime, there need be no concern by anyone that present products will present a problem.
