If so, how much and what fractions of other materials are contained. Your a sistance will save us the trouble of performing a lengthy analysis and will be greatly appreciated. Sincerely yours, REP/cw Rooert E. Hedden, Cheif Technical Services Section Division of Air Pollution and Industrial Hygiene Bureau of Environmental Services EAGLE-PICHER INDUSTRIES, INC. Hedden, Chief Technical Services Section Baltimore County Department of Health Div. of Air Pollution and Industrial Hygiene Maryland Avenue and Hi lien Road Towson, Maryland 21204 Dear Mr. Hedden: Your letter of August 1st pertaining to asbestos in Celatom was on my desk when I returned from vacation, and I apologize for the delay in responding. To answer your question, we have not produced any Celatom products with asbestos in them since April 1972 and think it unlikely that the Celatom in question contains any. If you could tell us the grade of Celatom the customer uses and/or the name of the customer, we would be in a better posi tion to make a positive statement. We produce several grades of Celatom which are each identified by a number such as MN-41, FW-14, FP-4, MP-78 etc. At one time we produced an asbestos blend filter aid and these grades have the designation of Celatom AB-4, AB-5, AB-6 etc., but discontinued their production last April. If the product does not contain the "AB" designation in the nomenclature, you can safely assume it does not contain asbestos. Hope this helps to shed some light on the subject, and let us know if we can be of further assistance. Yours very truly EAGLE-PICHER INDUSTRIES, INC. REM/jev Rpger .
