Attached is your copy of Balph Bragg's report on the Southwest Bell Telephone Building. The report is very brief and the value of the information gained from his visit there will not
be known until he completes his work vith the density samples taken from this building.
The primary purpose of this covering memo of mine is to high* light the significance of Bragg's report that this building has minimal shrink-cracking and that the fully-dried in-place character of the material is satisfactory.
The facts regarding the Little Bock Mono-Kote operation are:
(1) Their product uses U-5 blend -- the finest aggre gate used anywhere.
(2) The mix ratio (B) is 2.U0/1.0 -- the highest mix ratio of any plant.
(3) Little Bock has been plagued by extremely variable set times. (its supplier is USG/Hew Orleans.)
(4) Both Bragg and Bhea Taylor have field-audited operations at this building on several occasions axid have established the fact that as high as 14 gallons of water per bag vere actually used vith the It 5-lb. package supplied.
I don't think we could ignore the fact that the Little Bock situation includes all four negative factors which we felt vere contributing to our massive shrink-cracking situation in Hew York City. Essentially the same thing can be said for the M no-Kote out of New Orleans, the single exception being
that the mix ratio there is about 2.25.
As I think about this, I can only conclude that there is a hidden causative factor in the MK-3 formulation which' we have not yet identified. We will Just have to' continue to look for it.

This job was inspected December 1. Applicator is Kirko Company. The MK-3 application, using a 1+-5 blend aggregate, vas begun early September 1971* The job is almost complete, vlth the exception of a bit of MK-3 to be applied to the 3-story elevator bousing on top of the building. Floor-by-floor inspection from Floor 10 down shovs very minimal cracking and extremely little sliding of the Mono-Kote. A separate report will be issued vhen sleeted Job samples have been probed for unit density and penetrometer resistance.
