Exhaust air is then taken from the system and filtered through a bag collector located outside at the south end of Plant #8. r _J < PLAINTIFF'S CD Ui EXHIBIT 1 JUSTIFICATION summary: (Including estimates oj annual savings and other benefits) 3 C>V4b4,0G The concentration of asbestos dust in the plant atmosphere is, in some areas, beyond the threshold limit and continued exposure could result in contraction of asbestosis by the workers. Dr, Gaze of Cape Asbestos was very critical of this situation, and the Pennsylvania Board of Health has made it clear that they expect us to improve the situation as soon as possible. A better scrap handling system should yield better reclaimed scrap - it will be more uniform. Our present system runs the scrap through a fan and cuts it up too fine. In view of the seriousness of the problem, we urge immediate approval of this request. This equipment will replace present scrap handling system (1550-28) transferred to property account Apr 1 1964 and amounting to $3,695-00.
