By PCB we mean the members of the Aroelor 1200 series, namely 1221, 1232, 1242, 1248, 1254, 1260, 1262, 1268, 4465 and toluol/ xylol solutions of 1254, 1260 and.1262. This aotlon Is taken In light of ourrent publicity Indicating that certain PCBs may be environmental contaminants. We have already written to Dr. Hayes, Director, Pestlolde Regulations Division of the U.S.D.A. recommending that his department give critical attention to the regis tration of PCBs as an Ingredient of pesticide formu lations (copy attaohed). Our records Indicate only three possible customers in the U.S.A. for PCBs In this application, viz.t Chapman Chemical Aroclor 1262 ^-- 2,400 Pounds Chemagro John Rooney^ ^ Aroolor 1254 Discontinued? Aroolor 1254/1260 Unknown Amount (l) Sold through American Mineral spirits Company, Miami. - Please call on these customers as soon as possible and Inform them of this decision. We will write our distributor head offices to this effect also. MOMS 099535 -2- Thls ban does not extend to chlorinated terphenyls, namely Aroolor 5060, 5442 and 5460. Nevertheless, we feel that their usage should not be reoommended or encouraged further.
