Potter - B2SB In deciding on Monsanto's participating in membership of three industry steering committees, I ask that you consider this point of view. With broad gauge representation from using industries, the political sentiment within the groups will be to slow down or forestall the change away from PCBs. Monsanto's strategy may well be frozen into the larger group of which we were a member. This is contrary to our home planning. The logic behind participation in any industry committee group seemed appropriate to me only when G.E. was the leading light and their sentiment clearly was for conversion away from PCBs in line with our objectives. Since this is no longer feasible, I doubt that we want our hands tied. At the most, Monsanto should pointedly attend only as an observer.
