Dear Dr. Bock: I am sending you herewith a report giving the results ob tained on the eight additional men. A few comments on these results seem to he amply justified. I have gone over the information contained in your letter and recorded on the examinetloiL_Ea.cor d 3 . L et me remind you first that I have no data It will be useful to have the a d d i t l o m j ^ n u o r m a t l o i r t ^ ^ o u r convenience. It Is quite apparent that there are certain spots of significant exposure in your Shot Tower. I have a limited familiarity with the operations In such a plant and I recognize that the opportunities for lead exposure may vary considerably with the different occupations^^!^^.s Kit that the character of the work done b y f l j m | and is of a hazardous type. The fact that t n ^ r e s u i t s 3 same for all practical purposes on these two men is sufficient evidence on this score. The results on Morris are also quite high and they indicate the advisability of looking Into the exposure in connection with his work. If we assume that he has had no prior exposure to lead, he must have had a rather heavy exposure since entering upon hi3 present work. The same c o m m e n t ^ a n ^ ^ ^ j t ^ l e d to a some what lesser degree l n j j h ^ T h e re sults on the blood of are essen tially the same, but tnere I^co!lderab^^v5!Pn?tion in the urinary values on these men, a circumstance which may have resulted from considerable variation in their intake shortl^J^^Mj^Jjhe samples were taken. The urine sample must certainly have been quite dilute, have apparentljMiad very little exposure. * m ^ r m d i n g ^ f f l ^ h e blood of somewhat above normal levels and are indicative of M B W R i g h t exposure. One point in the Interpretation of these results is the actual length of time they have been on the job. Your comments Indicate that several of the men are new employees, but it Is Important to-'know what you mean by that statement. That is to say, I should know whether they have been exposed a few days, a few w e e k s , or a few m o n t h s . Any change which might take place in the blood levels within a few days would be very signifi cant , but if it developed only over a period of m o n t h s , It Dr. Roy C. A. Bock - (2) - March 12, 1943 would he much less Important. This further information, there fore, would he quite useful in connection with the new men. Also, the exact date on which anyone of the men moved from one joh to another would also he significant. After examining these data yourself, you may have some question in your mind concerning their significance in relation to other facts which you may have concerning the work of these men and the care they take in protecting themselves against exposure. I should he glad to give you any help I can in the further in terpretation of the results to your practical advantage. Just for the sake of the greater convenience to ourselves, I am enclosing herewith an additional invoice to cover the cost of these sixteen additional analyses.
