Dear Mr. Yumoto:
CD cf t
I received your August 30th request to meet with me on September 15, 2000 to discuss
issues related to various uses o f PFOS. I would be available to meet from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00
p.m. on that date.
In your initial letter of June 21, 2000, you mentioned that you would like to "negotiate" with EPA. Please understand that this discussion on the 15th will not be a negotiation. The Agency would like to understand your concerns regarding specific technical uses of PFOS, and we are willing to share with you our approach to PFOS, including regulatory aspects as appropriate. Negotiations concerning PFOS have not taken place with any companies, including 3M.
For planning purposes, I would appreciate it very much if you could send a brief list of the issues you would like to discuss. If you do not think you need the entire 2 hours, please let me know. It would also be helpful if you could provide a list of the people from your company who would plan to attend.
We can meet in Room 526 o f the East Tower o f EPA 's Waterside Mall complex, located at 401 M Street, SW, Washington, D.C. 20460. I would appreciate a confirmation that this time is acceptable. I will be out o f the office from September 1 through September 10. I ask that you please contact my secretary, Sharon Clark, with the above information. Ms. Clark can be reached at 202-260-3749, fax 202-260-8168, or email at clark.sharon@epa.gov. Thank you.
Sincerely,
