- I. SELECTION
The Plastic Material Services area of Block 8 is classified as a NON-HAZARDOUS AREA* RESPIRATORS ARE NOT USED IN DAILY OPERATIONS AND ARE NEEDED ONLY FOR ESCAPE OR EVACUATION PURPOSES*
The RESPIRATOR CHOSEN FOR ESCAPE OR EVACUATION PURPOSES IS THE MSA "MOUTH-BIT" NUMBER A76338 WITH REPLACEMENT CARTRIDGE NUMBER 47077- It carries the TC-23C-514 NIOSH approval requirements for
RESPIRATORY PROTECTION* AS AN ALTERNATE, AMERICAN OPTICAL ESCAPE
Respirator number R9722 with replacement cartridge number R722 is used* It carries the NIOSH approval number TC-23C-111*
II* LIMITATIONS
The respirator as described above is good for escape only from
ATMOSPHERES CONTAINING NOT MORE THAN 10 PPM CHLORINE, 50 PPM HCl, 50 ppm SO? and less than *05 mg/mi^ or 2 million particles per

IV* TRAINING
Training for respirator usage will be handled initially through a

VI. USAGE
Employees will not be required to carry the respirator on their PERSON DURING ACTIVITY WITHIN THE NORMAL OPERATING AREA OF THE
BLOCK- IN THE EVENT OF TRAVEL OR MOVEMENT INTO OTHER BLOCKS,
EMPLOYEES WILL BE ENCOURAGED TO CARRY A MOUTH-BIT RESPIRATOR IN ITS ORIGINAL CONTAINER AND BE FAMILIAR WITH WHERE TO REPORT IN THE BLOCK IF ONE IS NEEDED-
VII. SANITATION
If A RESPIRATOR IS SOILED OR USED, IT WILL BE CLEANSED AS FOLLOWS:
A. Remove and discard the cartridge. B* Cleanse the rubber portion in a mild detergent solution
CONTAINING 2 TABLESPOONS OF CHLORINE BLEACH PER GALLON OF WATER. C- Rinse thoroughly in clean water and dry with a tissueD- Allow to completely air dry.
E- Install new cartridge-
F- Seal respirator in new polyethylene bag and store as normal-
VIII- SURVEILLANCE
A- Program responsibility is assigned to the Department Industrial Hygiene representative-
B- All records, purchase, inspection, training, documentation, ETC-, WILL BE MADE BY AND MAINTAINED BY THE WAREHOUSE SUPERVISOR.
IX- VISITORS
Extra masks will be available for those persons who may be
VISITING IN THE AREA- IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE HOST TO SEE
THAT THE VISITOR HAS A MASK IF NEEDED-
