I want to say that the following, which is not original bat pat in my own words, in a general way expresses my opinion. The care and improvement of the animate (living) machinery is at least as important to the manufacturer aa the care and improve ment of inanimate machinery. The three most important matters for attention should be health, morals and education, because a more vigorous employee can do "JJ* more work, a more conscientious employee will do more conscien tious work, and a more intelligent employee will do more intelligent work. I feci strongly that not only should the officers, managers and heads of departments be interested in this work, but every employee of the Company. It touches all sides of our business--factory, warehouse, office and road. We want to inculcate the principles of health, morals and education throughout our entire organization. For true success, which we strive for in our buxines, de r pends upon their acquisition. The management is sincere in its desire and efforts to help every em ployee connected with the business improve his or her position. We fully realize what the president has pointed out, that the more vigorous, the more $n conscientious, the more Intelligent our staff the greater will be our progress. Secretary. # In the `-Carriage Monthly" for Feb ruary we find a portrait of our repre sentative, Mr. W. B. Wise, occupying a prominent place in the magazine among other portraits of representa tive men identified with the vehicle industry, and under the heading "Por trait Sketches," the following refer ence to Mr. Wise: Mr. Wire first became connected with the carriage business Id iSSa, being then only seventeen yean of age. Hi* employer* were the Columbo* Baggy Co., with whom he re mained for four year*. He then transferred hi* relations to the H. H, Babcock Co., in whose service he cootinned for nine yean. The Sherwin-WtUiams Co. then attracted him, and be baa now been their efficient rep resentative for the last five years, making his home in Cleveland, at which point the Com pany have their headquarter*. He is an ac tive efficient nun on the road, and baa done business for the company with nearly every carriage mannfactarer in the United Staten and Canada.
