Bakellte 19*06 Compound la simply a "Vinylite" resin plasticised with BOP, known as dl(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate and stabilised with Stabiliser P-22, known as tin dllaurate, dibutyl, plus a small amount of Acrevex C acting as a lubricant The formulation of this material Is as follows and we again ask you to respect this as confidential! Vinyl rosin VTBV <7.260 BOP Plasticiser 30.220 B-22 Stabiliser 2.000 Acrawax C lubricant 0.500 None of the above materials are considered to be a neurotoxin. The toxicity of all of these materials has been determined by animal range finding tests plus human experience with them. These experiments show that BOP possesses health haearde, in single exposures, no greater than those of other Materials whloh are already used without Injury to woxfcmen. This Material was also fed to groups of five rats for slaty days at varying doses to determine cumulative toxicity and no rat died as a result of the doses. This Indicates that BOP does not have great eunulatlve action. The maxlmun dose was 1.9 grans per kilogram of body weight per day. There was no neurological Injury shown at autopsy. This Material was also placed undiluted In tho eyes of rabbits and only transient congestion of the eyelids occurred. When applied to hunan slcln In the form of patch tests, left In contact for seven days and then reapplied ten days later on the same spots, no erythema r other reaction resulted at any tine. Therefore this Material does not show any great sensitising power on human akin. The stabiliser D-tt, tin dllaurate, dibutyl, llkewla showed no neurological toxicity, either on experlncntal animals r hunans. In years of clinical experience with the use of this material at one of our plants, the only effects noted were transient upper respiratory Irritation on exposure to an exces f fumes from this Material. This did not present a serious toxicity hazard since the systems were minor and eleared up vapidly. As noted, there la only two percent of this stabiliser In the formulation meed. Aerawax 6 Is a synthetic wax used as a lubricant la the formula* Xt la highly stable under heat and la practically Inert physiologically. Xt has been approved by the feed and Bvug Administration for Incorporation In films uaed for food packaging; therefore, its toxicity to humans has been clearly established as entirely safe. V.'e have been informed by the assured that the material with which the claimant vas working was Bakelite 19406 VinylCompDund. The claimant alleges the fumes made him ill. fit the time of his injury he became faint;and in '"act, be came unconscious for a short period of time. In the en suing week he lost his speech and the use of his right hand. The neurologist who examined the claimant states that if the material with which he was working was a neuro toxin then, In his opinion, the injury is compensable.
