The original formulas for these three greens contained pigment mixtures of lead chromate and phthalocyanlne blpe# This pigment combination was selected in order that the mass tones and tint colors would match those of P&L Oil Colons Chrome Green Light, Medium and Dark. The P&L Multipurpose Tinting Colors in the corresponding green colors have these disadvantages!
(1) They contain lead# (2) They are not alkali resistant and they cannot be
used to tint exterior masonry paint# (3) They "take** differently in water-thinned points
than they do In oil or alkyd paints. Vapex Plat Wall Finish, for example^' tints to bluer grpens than New Lyt-all Flowing Flat and the colorp do not exactly match the let-down chips shown pn the color card.
The revised formulas for"P&L Multipurpose Tinting Colors Green Light, Medium and Dark contain pigment mixtures of iron oxide, phthalocyanlne green and. In the case of the two darker colors, drop black. The colorants are therefore free from lead pigments and are alkali resistant." They may be used in exterior paints, including "/masonry paints. They "have excellent light fastness (when used to tint exterior products) and they also have excellent acid resistance.
The mass tones of the three revised greens are darkey and bronzier than the original formulas; the tint colors are ft trace cleaner, or yellower. The tinting strengths of the revised
