RE: Inappropriate Behavior on the WSCPR Washington State Pest Control Tour
As the Administrator of the Washington State Department of Agriculture and the iead on the recent Washington ag tour, Swas disappointed in the conduct of a tour attendee. Over the 22 years of leading this tour, we have had about 1,000 tour attendees and this is the first time someone over imbibing and acting iike this. As soon as I was aware of the situation, i took control of the individual and assisted him on to and off of the bus. When the individual was in their room, I returned to the bus and cleaned up the mess that he made. That was a first for me on a tour. The next morning the individual was profusely apologetic to me. i toid him to apologize to the bus drive which he did. i also ""fined" him $100 and contributed those funds to the tip for the bus driver.

This is the first that I have heard about inappropriate behaviors and comments from this individua!. If this individual was making inappropriate behaviors and comments, i wish someone would have said something at: the time. Obviously there is no tolerance for this kind of behavior and if such actions would have been pointed out to me, it would have been dealt with immediately.
The word that keeps coming back to me is disappointing. Disappointed in this individuis behavior and that I am only learning about this now. Until this Setter showed up I had received only positive feedback from the tour from tour attendees. As was pointed out by the WSU letter, this is not a reflection on the WSCPR or its tour. I hope this particular incident does not color tour attendees perception of the great state of Washington and her awesome agricultural industry. We will be reviewing our tour policies in order to avoid these 1 in a 1,000 events. In the future, we need to think of a better way of handling these situations than simply having WSU send a broadcast letter out to entire world out of the blue two weeks later.
