Mr, E. W. Webb, Ethyl Gasoline Corp. Chrysler Bldg., New York, N. Y,
Dear Mr. Webb:
I have gone over the article which you sent me in your letter of May 8. My impression Is that * though the attack is of a very low and villainous char acter, it Is not likely to be taken seriously by many people. As a consequence I should not feel that jcme should engage in any kind of attack upon such scurrilous* authors.
I have looked-into the question of who Dr. Charles T. Betts may be, without having found him listed In any of the medical or scientific organizations of whose membership I have lists, He is not to be found in the last edition of the Medical Directory; he Is not a member of the American Chemical Society; he Is not list ed in the last edition of American Men of Science; and, although his ommisslon from these lists does not entire ly mean that he Is a person of no consequence, still it is perfectly safe to say that he Is not a person of any established.reputation. I Cannot but feel therefore, that the best action in such a case Is probably to ig nore the whole matter.
With kindest regards.
Sincerely,
RAK:EJ
