CHARLES E. SCHUMER NEW YORK Majority Leader United Mates senate WASHINGTON, DC 20510-3203 May 8, 2025 The Honorable Sean Duffy Secretary U.S. Department of Transpiration 1200 New Jersey Ave, SE Washington, DC 20590 Dear Secretary Duffy: I am pleased to write in support of Carver Marine Steel Works' (CMSW) application for the Small Shipyard Grant Program administered by the U.S. Maritime Administration. Located at the Port of Coeymans, CMSW has emerged as a key player in the Northeast's commercial vessel repair and steel fabrication industries. The proposed investment in advanced fabrication equipment will significantly expand the shipyard's capabilities, reduce dependence on outsourced services, and increase efficiency and responsiveness to industry demand. This investment directly aligns with the Administration's goal of revitalizing domestic manufacturing and maritime capacity. The project will enable CMSW to support modular construction, clean vessel retrofits, and electrification of the working fleet--all while creating skilled jobs and expanding training opportunities through regional workforce development partnerships. I commend CMSW for its forward-looking vision and commitment to strengthening our nation's maritime industrial base. I urge your full and favorable consideration of this application. Should you require additional information, please contact my Washington, D.C. office at (b)(6) (b)(6) Sincerely, Charles E. Schumer United States Senator OST-2025-1200 Page 01964 Sierra Club v.
