REPLACEMENT BRAKE COMPONENTS
iMUHaAen
The center of every disc brake system is the rotor. Rotors must be straight and true or the brake system will not be able to stop a vehicle quietly, without pull or pulsation.
As you have learned during your Ford Brake Training, the rotor must meet very close tolerances. If, when performing brake service, the rotor Is only worn, the use of the Pro-Cut on-vehicle brake lathe is the best method for machining rotors back into specifications.
However, rotors that cannot be machined back into specifications must be replaced.
Ford offers both OE and Molorcraft Rotors as replacements. So what is the difference between the them?
Honesdy, not much.
In fact, both types of rotors are built the same way, using the same high-grade steel and built to the same specifications.
The biggest difference between Ford OE and Molorcraft Rotors is the cost of research and development
Since Molorcraft rotors are built to the same specifications as Ford OE rotors, there are no research and development costs. This enables Molorcraft to reduce the costs, and allows the savings to be passed aloDg to the customer.
However, Ford OE and Molorcraft Rotors are much better than aftermarket rotors! "How can there
be a difference between rotors when all they are is machined steel?" That's a fair question, let's take
a look at Ibe answer.
