boiler supporting brackets and supporting columns
iWT. 1937
For extra furnace height (beyond the SBI Code standards), Kewanee bearing brackets and supporting columns relieve the furnace refractory of the boiler weight.
Bearing brackets support the boiler on a masonry base. Structural steel columns furnish support independent of furnace brickwork.
The illustrations shown are intended to show methods of bearing bracket application only, and not specific details
of bracket construction.
methods of bearing bracket application
supporting brackets specifications
For low pressure Type "C" and locomotive type firebox boilers, the bearing brackets shall consist of two pairs of steel bearing plates, each with necessary gussets, welded to the boiler at the bottom of waterleg. Each gusset to have a Vi in. hole for wiring insulation to the boiler.
For high pressure firebox boilers, two pairs of hot-formed steel bearing brackets are provided, each with welded-in gusset and drilled holes for secure fastening at bottom of boiler waterleg with studs.
On high and low pressure locomotive type firebox boilers, the barrel shall be supported by a cast iron "A" frame backstand grouted on masonry pier.
