Dear Dr. Slebert i In response to your letter of December 22, which came yes terday afternoon# I am sending you a series of containers for the collection of samples of blood and spot samples of urine. I enclose herewith instructions for their collection# and I trust you will see that these are followed very care fully. In order to make sure that there would be no chance for error# I am sending three sets of tubes and needles for the collection of blood. I would advise you to see that duplicate samples of blood are collected at the same time in order that we may have check results. Likewise# I would suggest that more than one spot sample of urine be obtained# not only for the purpose of checking the analytical results# but of noting the variations that may occur from sample to sample. I took it from the letter that there are two men on whom samples will be collected# but Z am sending enough containers for three # and those which remain should be re- , turned promptly. These samples should be packed with great care agalnit breakage because of the heavy traffic at this time. Ve are quite willing to comply with your request at this time, and will be able to provide the analytical! results within 48 hours of the receipt of the samples. The cost of the analyses will differ in no wise from our usual practice. The actual cost to us is approximately $5.Oc per analysis# and we should make this charge. As to the cost of the depo sition# the charge will be very nominal# dependent upon the time actually required to take care of it. Incidentally, and for your information and Mr. Baets* # our work is not done by a technician, but by a highly trained and experienced chemist. Even so# I am in the habit of handling the medico legal situations by testifying not only as to the analysis, done under my direction# but also as to the interpretation which can scarcely be made except by a medical man on the basis of full information concerning the case.
