BPPOET - 1940
The Secretary presented a work sheet as a basis of discussion for the 1940 budget. Tais was dlscusssd Item by ltsa taking first tat activities now In progress.
1. Offtcs Experts - It ss fait that tba offlca ex panse lncjrm curing 1929, Including salaries of additional employees, would nave to bw continued in 1940.
. "Lead* - Likewise, "Lsad* would have to b continued In 190, In Its enlarged sits and nailing list, charging a proportion to tha kbits Lead rund.
* LkTlP.l.r!^*tTto,^ptcij`Epp
kttfl.fplat* - It
was fait t-.st an additional printing of "Wnat to Expect fron
White Lead Paint" will be necessary in 1940 and that approxi
mately 0,000 copies would be adequate.
4. Broadside to Ostlers - It ees also felt deslrabls to send another ur,i troedsid* to dtaltra, alnllar to the one used in 1929 and that thla shou.d be as striking in site and
eharactar aa the original broadside.
,, i>. Stockholder and Employee Leaflets - It was slso felt desirable again to circularise atocanoidara and anployees of neater companies.
6. Painter Leaflets - It was not fait necessary, however, to provide pelntera with sales helps of any kind aa the aeaber coapanles supplied then a graat deal of this material.
?. Publicity - It was felt that a great deal nor# could be accomplished through publicity than has bean accoapllahed during the year 1929, through better organisation of publicity afforts and perhaps through tha use of soae creative publicity. The suggestion was made that the Secretary determine how such such publicity actlvltlas woiud cost to do an adequate Job.
0. field Work with joyrnemen pslnters - The Secretary suggested the possibility of doing field work with Journeyman painters, pointing out while our aeaber coapanles did Con siderable wore with painting contractors, none, to his know-
ledge, did auen with tha journeymen and that the Journeymen's association of lb,000 aeabera would be receptive to thla type of work. He pointed out how successful, similar activities had been In our Pluablng Promotion Program. It was decided that
this worm could be tried out through the eaplcyaent of one field man, preferably a aeaber of the Journeyman painters' union, who
could attend union settings, address then, perhaps show a slide fils, encourage tha aitfc!-.lai.aent of apprentice training clataea,
and aee ti-at painting courses adequately covered tha question of asterlela.
