Grumbles March 23, 1987 IN-PLANT CONTAINER LABEL VERBAGE The Hazard Communication Standard requires that in-plant containers of hazardous materials contain an appropriate chemical identity and an appropriate hazard warning. To assure compliance with the labeling requirement a hazard warning should be added to your current label. I would propose the wording below be added to your powder mixture label, below the list of chemicals. These chemicals may be poisonous, toxic, or irritating when inhaled. Avoid breathing dust when handling. Read the appropriate Material Safety Data Sheet for more detailed information. The label content for waste oils and plasticizers that are not for disposal is more difficult to determine. Some plasticizers are nonhazardous according to osha criteria, others are combustible only, while others may be skin irritants. DOP is a suspect carcinogen.
